Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) has introduced a new packaging design for all the flavours of its flavoured carbonates brand, Fanta, across the UK.

The new packaging design is being introduced to enhance the brand’s shelf visibility and consumer appeal.

CCEP said that the revamped design offers a clearer distinction between the regular and zero-sugar variants of the product by featuring more vibrant colours.

The updated 500ml recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) bottles for both Fanta and Fanta Zero now clearly display their 100% rPET recyclable composition, which excludes the bottles’ labels and caps,

This change is part of a broader initiative by CCEP to include an ‘on-label ribbon communication’ across its entire sparkling 500ml rPET bottle range.

CCEP has also reportedly improved the taste of its Fanta Orange Zero offering by aligning it more closely with the regular Fanta Orange flavour.

This reformulation comes as zero-sugar options continue to outpace the overall growth of the flavoured carbonates segment, potentially driving increased sales for retailers.

CCEP Great Britain commercial development vice-president Rob Yeomans said: “As zero-sugar flavoured carbonates grow in popularity, we’ve identified an exciting opportunity to drive more sales of Fanta Orange Zero by making it taste even better and closer to the original.

“And the best way for us to showcase the great new taste is by getting consumers to try it for themselves, which is why we’ll be investing heavily in sampling activity throughout the summer [mid-2024]. We have more exciting plans in store for Fanta throughout the rest of the year to help our customers unlock the flavoured carbonates growth potential, so stay stocked up!”

In 2017, Coca-Cola rolled out redesigned packaging for Fanta’s range of fruit-flavoured sparkling soft drinks.

These redesigned bottles featured an asymmetric design and a spiral shape.
