Packaging material manufacturer Huhtamaki Molded Fiber Europe has announced the expansion of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody (CoC) certification to include its entire European operations.
The move is part of the company’s policy to use 100% recycled fibre from pre and post-consumer sources, including its own used products.

In order to confirm conformance to the FSC Reclaimed Standard for recycled sources, global third-party certification body SCS Global Services has assessed the packaging firm’s ten sites, covering operations in The Netherlands, France, Northern Ireland and The Czech Republic.
SCS executive vice president Robert Hrubes said: "Huhtamaki’s recycling policy represents a sound and progressive business strategy that helps reduce pressure on forested environments."
According to Huhtamaki, almost all of the water that goes into its moulded fibre manufacturing process gets reused, which is another closed loop in the company’s operations.
European retail stores carry its egg cartons and other FSC-certified packaging materials bearing the FSC Recycled or FSC Mix labels.
