Multi-energy company Repsol has introduced new sustainable lubricant packaging, which incorporates 60% mechanically recycled post-consumer plastic.
The new compound, which is part of the Repsol Reciclex range of sustainable polyolefins, will be used in one-litre, four-litre, and five-litre lubricant containers.
These containers are available in five different colours to distinguish among product ranges, including engine and transmission oils for motorcycles, cars, and heavy vehicles.
The recycled content now represents 60% of the total weight of the packaging, achieving a 25% reduction in carbon emissions compared to its previous packaging.
Repsol polyethylene director Pablo Giner said: “We are delighted to present this new solution, which will help reduce the carbon footprint by 25% compared to previous packaging. Our Reciclex team has been working to develop a packaging solution that incorporates recycled materials and meets our company’s high durability and performance standards.”
The new packaging is designed to maintain its performance while improving its environmental impact.
