European packaging products manufacturer Greiner Packaging International has announced the development of K3 D technology to enable the decoration of plastic cups with wrinkled cardboard wrap.
The company says that the technology will offer the same flexibility as sleeves for decorating cup packaging in the dairy industry.
K3 D can be used to decorate cup shapes with diameters from 68mm to 75mm. The carton wrap can be imprinted on both sides using up to six colours on each side through offset printing. The cardboard wrap’s inner side is often used for marketing and communication or additional product information.
Greiner Packaging International Division K head Kenneth Boldog said that the technology benefits its customers in the dairy industry as they will be able to stage-manage their products to perfection at the point of sale.
"K3 D provides much more latitude in decorating cup packaging," Boldog added.
The technology supports the use of renewable raw material or recycled cardboard in decorating cup packaging.
