US-based aseptic packaged foods and drinks manufacturer California Natural Products (CNP) has opened a new automated warehouse facility in Lathrop, California.
Designed and built by automated warehouse solutions provider Power Automation Systems, the new 18,000ft² facility will enable CNP to increase its packaging efficiency and reduce energy usage by 80% and its spatial footprint by around 90%.
The new warehouse features PowerStor, which lowers energy usage while offering higher storage density, high throughput and greater flexibility.
CNP president and founder Pat Mitchell said that the new automated warehouse not only helps the company to expand its manufacturing capacity and increase overall efficiencies, but also helps to lower production costs and minimise negative environmental impacts, while saving natural resources.
"With more and more companies placing a higher value on sustainability, California Natural Products’ ability to deliver both high quality and volume makes their switch to sustainable packaging an easy decision," Mitchell added.
The warehouse also features an enclosed overhead bridge that loops the loaded products onto pallets from the manufacturing facility to the storage warehouse using a flexible pallet delivery system, which is controlled through PASWare warehouse control system software.
