Coveris has teamed up with Tri-Star and PJ’s Foods to introduce a new sustainable packaging solution for PJ’s CREATIVE LUNCH food-to-go product range.
The move aims to consolidate multiple packaging formats into a single, versatile option, thereby enhancing sustainability and efficiency.
The new range by PJ’s Foods, a food-to-go manufacturer and distributor in Scotland, UK, includes square-cut sandwiches, toasties, baguettes, paninis, rolls, and wraps.
PJ’s and Tri-Star required new packaging that could be compatible with existing packing lines and flow wrapping machinery, ensuring product protection throughout the chilled distribution process.
Coveris offered its Fibre CoverAll solution, a carrier board designed to accommodate various product shapes and sizes.
Fibre CoverAll’s horizontal and vertical prescores allow for easy hand-forming, adapting to each item’s specific dimensions.

Fibre CoverAll’s inner side is coated with a barrier grease-resistant layer, safeguarding the products while maintaining their presentation and quality.
Meanwhile, the board’s outer surface is printable, offering opportunities for branding, consumer engagement, and product information.
Coveris said that Fibre CoverAll can also help in achieving greater efficiencies as it produces less waste during the entire packaging manufacturing process and has less press downtime.
The solution is aligned with Coveris’ ‘No Waste’ sustainability vision.
Last month, Coveris announced plans to launch its sustainable packaging solutions for the food industry, including its BarrierFresh MAP skillets for sandwiches, at the Anuga FoodTec 2024 exhibition in Germany.
