Packaging and inspection solutions provider Körber will acquire German pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical software solutions for production control and production monitoring provider Werum IT Solutions.
The group aims to use the acquisition to expand its Medipak Systems business in the German market, using Werum’s inspection and packaging technologies to produce better packaging for pharmaceutical products.
Körber executive board chairman Richard Bauer said that the transaction will give the company an opportunity to expand its activities in the German market.
"Software solutions such as the products and services provided by Werum are becoming increasingly important for us as a technology group, and are also highly relevant from a strategic perspective," Bauer added.
Werum executive board chairman Hartmut Krome said: "Our company will retain its Werum brand and market profile, while at the same time it would be integrated into Körber’s strong structures."
With a total of around 400 employees, Werum operates through a network of ten sites in Europe, the US, Japan and Singapore.
