Tamper evident closure for containers
A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11905078B2) discloses a closure system for a container, comprising a base element, a flip-top lid attached to the base element via a hinge, and a tamper-evident unit to indicate if the lid has been opened. The tamper-evident unit includes ring-like elements, with the second element being smaller in diameter than the first, and both elements being concentric or essentially concentric to each other. Additionally, the closure features frangible bridges connecting the tamper-evident elements, arranged around the outer circumference of the smaller element.
Furthermore, the patented closure system includes a spout that is separate from the base element and is inserted through an opening on the upper side of the base element. The spout is fixed in position and includes an outwardly extending protrusion that interacts with the tamper-evident unit when the lid is closed. The closure system is designed to be manufactured using injection molding, with the base element and flip-top lid initially molded in an open position before being closed, and the tamper-evident unit and spout inserted while the lid is closed.
