Belgium-based supply chain, identification and mobility solutions provider Zetes has developed the ZetesAtlas packaging execution system for product identification in the supply chain.
The software acts as an essential link between enterprise resource planning (ERP) and the packaging line. It allows packaging firms to manage, secure and improve the packaging identification process.

According to the company, ZetesAtlas is helpful in controlling the full range of peripherals including printers, cameras and controllers, enabling correct management of all common processes related to product identification.
Zetes claims that ZetesAtlas reduces the number of manual interventions and errors. By using the software, a single person can control all machines on the packaging line with a single machine interface.
The software can also provide exact information on products and their packaging types and can handle unit identification.
With the new software, parent-child association in packaging lines is made possible because of the serial numbers of the products that are read simultaneously and associated with the serial number of the box itself, strengthening the traceability of each individual product unit.
ZetesAtlas Business Solution Group head Pascal Longchambon said that the manufacturing firm is focusing on investment in manufacturing execution systems to develop its products with consistent quality.
"With the emergence of new data carriers which allow more data to be encoded (e.g. best before dates) and item level identification, companies understand the need for a solution that allows them to efficiently manage and orchestrate the whole packaging identification process. ZetesAtlas has filled this gap in the market," Longchambon added.
