By GlobalDataThe company’s patent-pending performance plastic incorporates more than 25% recycled plastic by weight, significantly higher than the 2 to 3% utilised in conventional recycling methods.
StokedPlastic pellets are made from recycled plastic water bottles sourced from global recycling partners throughout Indonesia and along the Asian coastline. The company has removed more than 380,000 water bottles from landfills and oceans.
The pellets offer durability, flexibility, carbon efficiency and circularity compared to traditional injection-moulded plastics.
The material integrates into manufacturing practices with price parity to current recycled material alternatives, with the goal of easy brand adoption.
Besides the Opolis Optics glasses, StokedPlastics works on a variety of products including adventure gear and luxury hard goods.
Its founder James Merrill explained: “If we’re going to actually make an environmental dent, then we must hold ourselves to a higher standard. For us, that’s continuing to research and drive progress towards incorporating 100% recycled water bottle content into every product.”
