J&J Green Paper, a provider of packaging solutions, has partnered with independent McDonald’s franchisee Arcos Dorados to launch a sustainable packaging initiative in Argentina.
As part of this collaboration, Arcos Dorados has made changes to McDonald’s primary bags, hamburger wrappers, leveraging J&J Green Paper’s JANUS technology.
JANUS technology offers an all-natural coating for food packaging, creating a barrier against grease, water, and oxygen when implemented to paper for food packaging, like cups, wrap paper, boxes and others.
This compound is claimed to be 100% biodegradable, backyard compostable, repulpable, and recyclable, making it a sustainable alternative to the traditional petroleum-derived polyethylene coatings.
The adoption of JANUS by Arcos Dorados will replace the existing coating standard, offering a sustainable alternative to the single-use plastics.
The initiative will also help address the environmental and health concerns associated with PFAS chemicals.
