Carmencita has partnered with food and cosmetic packaging manufacturer ITC Packaging to launch a new paprika packaging container, featuring a two-sided flip-top cap and light barrier properties.
The two companies aim to improve the features and functions of the two-sided flip tops, which are traditionally used by the spice market.
The outcome of this collaboration is a simple, hinged two-sided flip top.
As the packaging’s cap can be opened in two different ways, it is easy to take the spices out with a spoon or directly sprinkle them out.
In a statement, ITC Packaging said: “Once the solution for the lid was found, the idea arose to also change the container in order to achieve a 180-degree revolution in the packaging of this format, thus creating a new set that stands out for its geometry within a category marked by uniformity.”
The packaging’s hermetic seal, achieved through a heat-sealable cap-jar join, ensures the preservation of the spices’ aroma and organoleptic properties.

By GlobalDataAdditionally, the inclusion of an in-mould labelling feature acts as a UV barrier, further protecting the product’s quality.
Developed with sustainability in mind, the new container uses less raw material with superior cubage due to its optimised stackability, which in turn reduces its carbon footprint.
The monomaterial construction of the packaging allows for easy recycling within existing waste management systems.
