Guala Closures, a provider of closure systems specifically for spirit packaging, has acquired the remaining 30% stake in Guala Closures Bulgaria.

The acquisition strengthens Guala Closures’ position as a key player in the luxury closures sector.

Guala Closures president Gabriele Del Torchio said: “This acquisition aims to strengthen Guala Closures’ presence in the luxury closures segment, those closures designed to enhance the distinctive identity of each brand by embodying aesthetics, design, and functionality, thanks to the combination of premium materials and cutting-edge production technologies promoted by our R&D [research and development] centres.”

Guala Closures acquired the Bulgarian facility in 2010 and it has since played a significant role in the company’s global operations.

The facility employs more than 270 people and recorded a growth of over 40% over the past four years.

The facility’s strategic importance is underscored by its role as a hub for producing luxury closures, leveraging specialised materials such as glass, wood, ceramics, and zamak.
