Green packaging manufacturer Cascades has inaugurated its expanded corrugated packaging plant in Drummondville, Canada, that involved a $26.4m investment.
The 45,000ft² expansion included the installation of a latest corrugator, which has been operating since early last year.
Catering to the Quebec province and the US, the facility focuses on producing cardboard boxes for packaging primarily food products.
Cascades president and CEO Mario Plourde said: “The Drummondville expansion is a concrete example of our continuing efforts to modernise our manufacturing equipment.
“By investing in high-performance and state-of-the-art technology such as that used in Drummondville, the company not only consolidates the plant’s 214 jobs, but also its position as a leader in containerboard packaging in Canada and the Northeastern US.”
For the facility expansion, the company has also received a $6m loan from the government through Investissement Québec.
