UNITED CAPS is planning to build a new manufacturing plant for closures and caps in Dinnington, Rotherham, UK.
The new manufacturing site will be the company’s first plant in the UK and forms part of its ‘Close to You’ strategy, which is focused on setting up manufacturing operations close to areas of regional demand.

The new plant was originally announced in July 2018 and is planned to be built in phases.
It will initially manufacture beverage and dairy closures.
UNITED CAPS is expected to invest more than €20m ($23m) towards the construction of new facility.
The proposed facility will initially employ a team of 20 staff and is slated to enable the company to meet the rising demand for caps and closures within the UK market.
The first phase of the project will include installation of machinery and is anticipated to increase the company’s turnover by roughly 15%.
Production at the new facility is expected to commence by the end of 2019.

Rotherham was selected as the site for the new facility due to its close proximity to the M1 motorway, as well as the availability of a skilled labour force.
The price of land was another factor considered during the location selection process.
Rotherham Council, one of the local authorities of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, has agreed to assist UNITED CAPS over the course of development of the factory.
UNITED CAPS’ new manufacturing plant details
UNITED CAPS’ new manufacturing plant will cover an initial area of 5,000m² with the option to expand to 20,000m² based on further demand for closures.
It will manufacture beverage and dairy closures and caps from the outset, with plans to add additional segments as and when required.
The Dinnington facility will primarily manufacture plastic closures for flat and medium carbonated drinks.
It will also produce closures for fruit juices and dairy products packaged in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles.
The new site will provide UNITED CAPS’ customers with access to expert resources at its Messia research and development (R&D) facility.
Products manufactured at the new facility
UNITED CAPS’ new closure and cap manufacturing plant will be used to produce the company’s innovative mono-piece screw closures, which are mainly used with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles.
The closures are made from organoleptic resin and are used for the packaging of liquid dairy products, carbonated beverages and still drinks.
They come in various designs and specifications in accordance with customers’ requirements.
In addition, the new manufacturing facility will also produce caps for glass jars or cans used to package dairy products.
