Consumer packaging company Sonoco’s Alloyd business has launched an all-paper retail blister package.
Named EnviroSense PaperBlister, the new packaging is an alternative to the existing thermoformed plastic blister package.
Designed to be environmentally friendly, EnviroSense PaperBlister is a plastic-free package and is recyclable in the paper stream. The packaging is also available with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Certification.
Developed using water-based sealing technology, the packaging has no volatile organic compounds (VOC) connected to it.
Sonoco Global Plastics segment vice-president Jim Lassiter said: “This new mono-material package is further evidence of our commitment to developing more sustainable options for our customers and consumers alike. This technology enables us to produce a paper-based option that many shoppers and brands are looking for without sacrificing merchandising benefits.
“The new paper blister runs on existing Sonoco Alloyd sealing equipment, and we are able to furnish all tooling, along with printed card materials, to create the entire package. Having a single-source partner is also helpful during critical new product launches and projects with tight deadlines.”
