UK chemical company INEOS and UPM Biofuels have entered a long-term renewable raw material supply agreement.
According to the agreement, UPM supply UPM BioVerno, raw material from wood pulp processing renewable residue, to INEOS Köln, Germany.
INEOS will use the renewable raw material to develop bio-attributed polyolefins.
The process has been certified by Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB). It will also contribute to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
The new materials will be used in a broad range of applications, including plastic food packaging, medical and pipes.
The material will also be used to produce bio-attributed polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
