Hybrid packaging supplier Berlin Packaging has expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of two packaging firms in France.

The companies are Sodis-Uhart and its subsidiary Audoubert, both specialise in offering glass and metal packaging.

The acquisition of Sodis-Uhart and Audoubert is in line with Berlin Packaging’s strategy to expand in Europe by offering packaging solutions in all segments.

Sodis-Uhart is a family-run business that was acquired by Toulouse-based Audoubert in 2015.

With more than 9,000m2 of warehouse space, the two companies offer a wide range of glass and metal containers and packaging components.

Sodis-Uhart director Dominique Uhart and Audoubert director Michel Uhart said: “Our combination with Berlin Packaging represents the culmination of a family adventure that began in 1979 with just one employee.

With this latest purchase, the company has so far completed 11 acquisitions in Europe since 2016.

Berlin Packaging Europe CEO Paolo Recrosio said: “Sodis-Uhart, together with Audoubert, will significantly expand Berlin Packaging’s product portfolio, especially in the food sector. Moreover, both companies have strong customer and supplier relationships that will help us continue to expand, particularly in France and the neighbouring areas of Spain.”

In December, Berlin Packaging acquired Newpack, a Savona based glass packaging company serving food and beverage markets.
