Business-facing online retailer Btab has committed to using sustainable packaging materials for e-commerce fulfilment across its operations.
The company will use packaging materials that are both biodegradable and recyclable.

By GlobalDataBtab is also encouraging manufacturers and suppliers across its network to implement the sustainability approach, and plans to invest in recyclable plastic manufacturing projects.
The company will invest in these projects once it has been listed on the US stock exchange, which is expected to happen this year.

“Governments in many countries have already started to ban single-use plastics, an important step towards curbing pollution and environmental issues. Btab is now taking the lead by making a positive change.
“Upgrading our packaging materials to biodegradable and recyclable alternatives is a huge contribution to our planet and will improve the environment we all live in.”
Btab is undertaking several measures in the bioplastics industry to meet sustainability requirements.
These include developing advanced, biodegradable packaging that is recyclable in the existing recycling systems. The packaging is developed from in-house manufactured bioplastic that uses renewable feedstock.
Btab offers social commerce and e-commerce solutions to online and offline businesses with the aim of making online technology affordable to all small and medium businesses.
The company currently has facilities in China and Australia.
In April, electronics manufacturer Belkin pledged to use 25% less single-use plastic packaging by the end of 2025, based on its 2019 benchmark.
The company will also shift to paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) across its retail packaging.
