UK-based sustainable packaging company DS Smith has introduced a tray packaging solution that can be erected quickly and reused after use.
Developed by a team in Germany, the tray is made entirely of corrugated cardboard and has two lateral automatic bases.
It can be ‘effortlessly’ erected on site when required for transport, storage or product presentation and can be folded up and stored when not in use.
The reusable tray is fully recyclable and designed to be used in a wide range of sectors.
DS Smith said that the tray does not lose its performance or functionality when folded up again.
The material-optimised tray is provided to customers in a flat and pre-glued format to save time spent on logistics. Its corners are reinforced to offer high load-bearing capacity.

DS Smith said that it had adopted a systematic approach at all stages of the development timeline, with the aim of offering ‘real added value’.
The company also takes its entire supply chain into account when working on both product display and packaging.
In a statement, DS Smith said: “Our designers consistently apply the circular Design Principles that we developed together with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
“One of the five principles is ‘We find a better way’, which is all about challenging what is really possible.”
Last month, DS Smith unveiled its first hybrid Customer Innovation Hub in Lisbon, Portugal.
The hub features a range of audio-visual technologies, including pan-zoom-tilt (PTZ) cameras and an LED wall.
It is designed to allow the company to host innovation and design sessions for customers in face-to-face, online and hybrid settings.
In September, DS Smith launched Circular Design Metrics, a tool designed to help gauge the environmental impact of its solutions.
