Petrochemical company Braskem has renewed its long-term agreement with Sojitz Pla-Net to supply, ‘I'm green Polyethylene’, a polymer manufactured using renewable feedstock.
With this renewal, the availability of the renewable product in the region of Japan and Asia-Pacific region is expected to increase, allowing the company to cater to more than 100 clients in the convenience store, logistics and household product sectors.

Sojitz Packaging Material senior general manager Yoshinori Suzuki said: “Sojitz renews its partnership with Braskem in order to promote the advantages of Green Plastic and the benefits it brings not only to its customers, but also to the consumers that will use this renewable product.
“We believe that this business is growing and that the concern for the environment will become stronger in diverse sectors.”
I'm green Polyethylene carries the same properties as conventional polyethylene, but is developed using ethylene procured from sugarcane.
The use of this new product is expected to reduce greenhouse gases emissions, as it absorbs carbon dioxide during the production process.

The company is one of the largest resin manufacturers in the Americas with an annual output reaching nearly 20 million tonnes of produce, including chemical products and basic petrochemicals.
Braskem exports the products to around 100 countries from its 41 industrial units situated in Brazil, the US, Germany and Mexico.
