Corrugated sheet board supplier Board24 is to invest additional £5m at its sheet feeder operation facility in Preston, Lancashire, UK.
In late 2015, the company invested £11m in the facility and installed a second 2.5m BHS machine.
The company has received the shareholder approval for a 4,000m² extension that will fully optimise the two corrugator sites across six production shifts.
Board24 managing director Richard McBride said: “We are delighted to be able to secure shareholder support for this next stage of Preston’s development.
“That we are able to announce this next stage a full 12 months ahead of schedule is a testament to our key customers who have invested in their own business and continue to deliver excellent growth.”
The additional investment is expected to increase loading and storage capacity by 30% and remove potential congestion through a fourth material handling line, fully integrated into the existing system.

Commenting on the next phase in Preston’s expansion plans, Board24 operations manager Eric Marshall said: “We are already at advanced stages of recruitment for our sixth shift. In September, we will be installing a new pallet line and conveyors, the first stage in what we envisage will be an 18-month project.”
