The company also developed a range of ‘fit-for-purpose’ packaging solutions for the fresh produce market called Grow&Go; launched a fully recyclable paper packaging for Italian pasta brand Antico Pastificio Umbro in collaboration with Fiorini International; and developed a paper-based packaging solution for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle bundle packs called Hug&Hold.
Mondi also made some significant investments including the introduction of its first in-house recycling laboratory at its mill in Frantschach, Austria. The lab is designed to test the recyclability of paper and paper-based packaging that features non-paper components like coatings. The company also announced an investment of around €5m ($4.96m) to develop a research and development (R&D) facility at its plant in Steinfeld, Germany.
