The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded ENERGY STAR plant certification to Ardagh Glass Packaging – North America’s (AGP – NA) facility in Madera, California.
AGP – NA’s Madera glassmaking facility manufactures glass containers for the US wine market, producing around one million containers a day.
Ardagh has improved the site’s energy performance by upgrading and optimising furnaces, using recycled glass and installing energy-efficient lighting fixtures.
The facility meets the EPA’s energy efficiency performance levels and is claimed to be in the top 25% of similar facilities across the US for energy efficiency.
Ardagh Glass Packaging chief sustainability officer Alex Winters said: “Ardagh Glass Packaging is honoured to earn the ENERGY STAR plant certification at our Madera, California facility for the ninth consecutive year.
“Thanks to the dedicated Ardagh employees for their commitment to continued energy savings, making Ardagh an environmental leader in the packaging industry.”
