RPC Barrier Containers has designed an innovative lightweight and easy-to-handle packaging for France-based William Saurin unit Soulié Restauration’s new Garbit brand of ready-meals.
Similar to the traditional Tajine, the new packaging features a thermoformed multilayer polypropylene container produced by RPC BeboPlastik.
The container is integrated with an injection-moulded polypropylene (PP) lid made by RPC Bramlage.
Both the container and lid feature a warm terracotta colour, while the lid is embossed with decorative details and the Garbit logo.
In addition, the container can be taken directly from oven to table and is protected with a layer of ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH).
The EVOH offers an effective protection against oxygen ingress to deliver a shelf life of 18 months.

By GlobalDataWilliam Saurin product manager Camille Chatelain said: “The RPC packs are attractive, practical and maintain the quality of our ready meals.
“RPC’s fast-response through the development of the project was also a major benefit.”
The company’s new Garbit range includes three recipes, beef kofta and spicy merguez sausage; vegetables and dried fruits; and chicken, lemon and olives.
In a separate development, RPC Group revealed plans to display its new suite of packaging solution at this year’s Interpack event.
The solutions include WaveGrip, an alternative to current beverage multi-packing solutions, and Twist Cup with screw lid, and others.
