US-based diversified packaging company Sonoco has purchased flexible packaging company Plastic Packaging (PPI) for an undisclosed sum.
With the deal, Sonoco aims to boost its capabilities in lamination, wide and narrow web flexographic printing, as well as pouch and bag forming sectors.
The acquisition will also enable Sonoco to expand its customer base and serve its existing customers in a better way.
Sonoco global consumer solutions senior vice-president Rob Tiede said: “This acquisition grows our flexible packaging assets in the southeast US, adding short-run capabilities that allow us to offer additional specialty and customisation capabilities to our customers.
“PPI complements Sonoco’s existing technologies and leverages our expertise in flexible packaging, while expanding our customer base in complementary markets.”
Established in 1957, PPI currently provides short-run, customised flexible packaging solutions for consumer brands involved in various markets, such as food, pet, confection, health and personal care.
