UK-based sustainable packaging company Mondi has announced its collaboration with Turkish flavour company Aromsa to provide a sustainable shipping solution, called TankerBox.
Aromsa’s product offerings mainly include seasonings, sauces, toppings, and extracts.
Mondi is providing its TankerBox solution to address Aromsa’s requirements for sustainable shipping containers.
TankerBox will help Aromsa to avoid investment in nearly 250 stainless-steel containers, which it used previously.
Before selecting this new shipping solution, Aromsa trialled it on its production line, with it now being ready for commercial use.
Aromsa’s production manager Nil Okyar said: “We can do all the operations we did with the stainless-steel container with the TankerBox much more comfortably.

By GlobalData“We have been able to simplify transportation because we now avoid the return event associated with metal containers.
“We can also stock and ship TankerBox on top of each other, gaining storage space and doubling the shipping capacity.”
TankerBox is made using corrugated cardboard and has been developed as a more sustainable alternative to its conventional intermediate bulk container (IBC) and metal barrel counterparts.
Compared to metal drums or IBCs, TankerBox is said to be cost-efficient, easy to handle and integrate into production lines, as well being as easier to pack and store.
It has an ‘intelligent discharge system’ that comes with two different design options for discharging.
Mondi said its patented design comprises five parts, namely an outer box, an inner octa-bin, an angle frame, a bottom star, and top cover pieces.
The user can either discharge the products from the top of the box or from the bottom, which further ensures that there is no residual content left in the box and leads to less wastage.
Mondi heavy duty sales and business development manager Gozdecan Demir said: “We designed this solution for Aromsa and it worked perfectly because it was based on their needs. It is this level of collaboration which leads to excellence and success.”
