Germany-based Bericap has developed a two-piece plastic closure for edible oil and vinegar bottles.
The round CTC IP closure features an integrated hinge and is suitable for the 29 / 21 finish on standard polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottlenecks.
Most of the 1l PET bottles used by the edible oil industry in Europe or South America have a standard 29 / 21mm neck finish weighing 2.74g.
This neck finish was initially designed when PET bottles were first introduced to allow corresponding plastic closures to fit on glass and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) bottles.
The cap is a tear-off band and can be opened in two directions, which is beneficial for both right and left-handed consumers.
Bericap stated that a private label vinegar producer had used its one-piece closure solution HC EV 29/21 for the latter’s vinegar essence.

By GlobalDataThis one-piece, press-on hinge closure suits a 29 / 21 PET neck or adequate glass neck.
The pourer is equipped with a tear-off seal that provides tamper support.
The hinged lid can be opened up to 180°, and a a specially designed pouring lip prevents the product from dripping.
Bericap has provided its new closure to another vinegar producer, which aimed to acquire solutions for its 250ml and 500ml glass carafe bottles, as well as for its PET-filled products.
