German bottling company Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Deutschland (CCEP DE) has announced its plans to expand the availability of at-home refillable drinks options for consumers.
As part of this initiative, CCEP DE will start offering one-litre refillable glass bottles for a variety of its beverages, including Fanta, Sprite, ViO BiO LiMO, mezzo mix, and Fuze Tea, for its consumers across Germany.
The effort is scheduled to be implemented in September this year.
It comes as part of CCEP DE’s commitment to eliminate packaging waste, with the move hoped to increase the circulation of single-use packaging.
The latest milestone also builds on the successful launch of one-litre refillable glass bottles that were introduced for the Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar beverages in 2019.
CCEP DE is now planning to roll out a ‘uniform’ bottle design for all of its one-litre returnable glass and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles.

By GlobalDataThis design is expected to be introduced over the next few years.
According to CCEP DE, a uniform bottle design will help boost and simplify the overall production process by eliminating the requirement for organising different types of vessels within the system.
All of these new implementations and modifications follow a significant investment from CCEP DE to expand the use of reusable bottles in its business.
Within the last five years, it says it has invested approximately €250m ($275.6m) in opening two new glass bottling lines, introducing new refillable packs, as well as expanding the availability of the refillable bottle pool.
The company’s plans for the near future now include an extra investment of roughly €100m this year.
This investment will come parallel to the recent launch of a €40m refillable glass bottling line in Lüneburg, Germany, and the relaunch of an existing refillable PET line in Bad Neuenahr.
CCEP Indonesia recently announced the launch of 100% recycled PET bottles for its Fanta, Sprite, and Sprite Waterlymon brands across the country.
