The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) has published its 2022 Progress Report, highlighting more than 50 different projects that test solutions to eliminate plastic waste.
This was announced by Saudi Arabian chemicals manufacturing company SABIC, one of the founding members of the Alliance.
This is the third annual report published by the AEPW, a Singapore-based industry-founded, non-profit organisation.
The report, titled Catalysing Impact, details the lessons learned from more than 50 different projects that evaluate solutions to eliminate plastic waste and promote a circular economy system globally.
It also highlights the contributions of SABIC, alongside other industry members, that focused on four strategic pillars to expedite and encourage the adoption of circular plastics.
The four pillars include infrastructure, innovation, education and engagement, and clean-up.

By GlobalDataAccording to the report, in 2022, SABIC has achieved various milestones to implement and drive circular economy for plastics.
One of these efforts is the expansion of its TRUCIRCLE portfolio, which showcases the company’s circular innovations, while allowing manufacturers to access more sustainable alternatives.
SABIC has also introduced a new target to process a minimum of one million metric tonnes of TRUCIRCLE solutions every year by 2030.
Furthermore, SABIC has also reached the final stages of construction for its commercial advanced recycling plant.
Commercial delivery of circular polymers manufactured at this plant is expected to commence in the upcoming months.
SABIC CEO Abdulrahman al-Fageeh said: “While we are making tangible progress, we know we still have a long journey ahead. We must remain focused on diverting used plastics from entering our environment so we can realise its true potential to help secure food security, improve water management, accelerate transition to renewables, safeguard public health and advance our quality of life.
“Looking ahead, we are excited to continue this important work alongside our partners at AEPW, sharing expertise to drive circular models to scale, maximising product lifecycles, eliminating waste and regenerating natural systems.”
