Global materials science company Dow has aided Mengniu, a Chinese dairy company, to develop its first all-polyethylene (PE) recyclable yogurt pouch packaging.
Dow‘s INNATE TF-BOPE resins within the all-PE packaging enable traditional hard-to-recycle packaging to be integrated into closed-loop recycling streams through responsible recycling and mechanical recycling technology, providing consumers with more choices for sustainable packaging.

By GlobalDataMengniu has set a goal to achieve 100% technically recyclable packaging by 2025, striving to adopt low-carbon packaging in all of its product lines. This goal is part of the push for eco-consumerism in the global dairy products sector.
Mengiu is one of the key dairy companies in China. Within this market, the most popular packaging types are paper and board, rigid plastics, and flexible packaging.
Dow Asia Pacific commercial vice president of packaging and specialty plastics Bambang Candra commented: “This collaboration empowers recycled packaging to be transformed into high-value applications through responsible disposal and appropriate recycling processes.”
The all-PE pouch will be unveiled at the 2023 International Dairy Forum from August 4-7 in Hohhot, a major city in Northern China, and will be available from supermarkets across the city.
Dow recently partnered with Klöckner Pentaplast to launch a multi-layer recyclable vacuum film for meat and poultry packaging.
