Liquid packaging solutions provider Sidel has installed a PET bottling line at a facility of Montgomery Waters, a UK-based natural spring water company.
Sidel’s full line comprises a compact, blow-fill-cap Combi solution, featuring a Sidel Matrix blower SBO14, a Sidel Matrix filler SF300 FM, a Sidel Matrix roll-fed labeller SL70 and conveying, shrink wrapping and palletisation equipment.
As the Sidel Matrix Combi with a blendfill version of the Sidel Matrix Carbonator makes use of only one buffer tank, CO2 consumption is significantly reduced.
The equipment’s 70 filling valves with magnetic flow meters are also controlled electronically, thereby ensuring accurate volume filling into the PET bottle. This in turn prevents spillage and wastage, the packaging company claimed.
Sidel also claimed that its Matrix Combi blow-fill-cap solution improves hygiene whilst reducing costs of bottling still or carbonated beverages.
Montgomery Waters managing director Paul Delves said: "In 2012, we moved to in-house blowing and updated our labelling by upgrading our existing high-speed line, increasing production capacity by 50%, with a Sidel Matrix Combi, labeller and conveyors from Sidel.

By GlobalData"Now increased demand from both consumers and our customers meant we needed to invest in an additional line, one that offered maximum flexibility and could be integrated with the solutions we had already installed to provide operator flexibility across our lines, reduce training needs and maintenance costs.
"These are the two main reasons we chose Sidel Matrix equipment, along with the fact that we are very satisfied with Sidel’s on-site service."
The other benefits of the Matrix labeller is that it can be installed in different layouts, easily reconfigured and enables quick changeovers, with 40% less downtime required for its maintenance.
At speeds of up to 31,000 bottles an hour, the line can produce PET water bottles in four formats ranging from 330ml to 2l.
Chinese natural mineral water firm Nongfu Spring recently installed a second Sidel bottling line in order bolster production capacity.
