The new plant will focus on producing and selling closures for food and beverage sectors, as well as non-food markets in the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), which has a population of approximately 550 million.

Bericap stated that it intends to sell the closures in more than 20 countries across Asia, Australia and the EU.

The new plant in Malaysia is equipped to supply significant amounts of closures to the growing region.

The AFTA is a trade bloc agreement by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations with an aim to offer support to local manufacturing industry in all ASEAN countries, including Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia.

The company’s range comprise one-piece, two-piece, hinge and bi-injected closures. It offers products with customised design and optional TPE-valve for easy dispensing for sauces and ketchups.

These closures come with oxygen-scavenging capabilities or with light transmission barriers, the company claimed.

The company also offers closures for aseptic and hot filling for 28m, 33mm and 38mm diameters.

Its closure technology offers weight reduction and neck solutions, thereby enabling reduction in wall thickness for hot filling.
