SkipTheDishes, a part of Just Eat Takeaway, has collaborated with Earthware Reusable to introduce a reusable packaging pilot programme in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Earthware will work together with SkipTheDishes and support its restaurant partners in Canada to deliver sustainable takeout options for local customers.

As part of the pilot effort, SkipTheDishes’ customers placing their orders from one of the participating restaurants can receive their takeout orders in Earthware reusable containers.
After finishing their meal, consumers can return their food containers and lids at any time, as per their convenience, at any one of the 13 central bottle depots in Calgary.
Customers will benefit from a refund for dropping their used food containers at the depot.
All collected used food containers are washed, sanitised, and inspected by Earthware and then redistributed to participating restaurants for reuse.

So far, more than 20 Calgary-based restaurant partners associated with the SkipTheDishes network have enrolled into the pilot programme with Earthware.
People can check the list of participating restaurants offering Earthware takeout packaging on the Skip app by clicking on the Earthware banner.
By next year, Earthware is planning to expand these services to other neighbouring areas, including Edmonton, Canmore, and Banff.
SkipTheDishes’ Local Partnerships head Loraine Nyokong said: “Through our work with Earthware, we know that Calgarians make over 1.7 million visits to Alberta bottle depots each year to drop off beverage containers for recycling, with an 84% return rate on bottles and cans.”
