Sustainable packaging manufacturer Cascades has announced $26.4m worth of new investments to install a new corrugator at its Norampac corrugated board conversion plant in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada.
The firm intends to extend the facility by 45,000ft², which is expected to be complete within mid-November.
The new installation is aimed at increasing the production capacity of the Norampac plant and reducing its operating costs. The new corrugator has been scheduled to be operational as of January next year.
The expansion project has been backed by an Investissement Québec loan guarantee, for a maximum amount of $6m.
Cascades president and CEO Mario Plourde said: "Today’s announcement is part of our strategic plan aiming to focus our efforts and investments in the packaging and tissue paper strategic sectors. This process is beginning to show results.
Norampac chief operating officer Charles Malo said: "This project is an opportunity to reinforce our leadership in the market and show our dedication to our clientele.
