US-based Dow Chemical has unveiled a new range of precision packaging resins, in an effort to expand the product portfolio of its packaging and speciality plastics business unit.
The new Innate range of linear, low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) resins is based on advanced process technology which when integrated with a patented molecular catalyst can offer better performing packaging solutions.
The firm is presently manufacturing this new line of packaging resins at its North American and European facilities, reports Plastic News.
The product variant is unmatched in stiffness-toughness balance, the company claimed.
Dow packaging and speciality plastics marketing director Nestor de Mattos said: "Innate precision packaging resins were born from a breakthrough, patented catalyst and process technology and gives brand owners, retailers and converters what they’re demanding: the ability to create precision combinations that deliver high performing food, consumer and industrial packages."
Dow Chemical has come up with the new packaging resins after a rigorous market analysis and discussions with converters and brand owners.

By GlobalDataThe packaging resins are lightweight and can be used for flexible food packaging, as well as for heavy-duty industrial shipping sacks.
These also offer twice the abuse-resistance in coextruded films when compared with standard polyethylene resins and ease of processing due to its excellent bubble stability.
Dow packaging and speciality plastics global R&D director David Parrillo said: "The chemistry behind Innate resins allows customers to control properties like never before to create a new standard of performance through a combination of film stiffness, toughness and processability, all from one packaging resin."
