Packaging firm Sonoco intends to sell its uncoated recycled coreboard mill in France, which was previously operated by its subsidiary Sonoco-Alcore.
Located in Schweighouse-sur-Moder commune, the facility has been operational since 1878 and is one of the 20 paper mills owned by Sonoco worldwide.
Equipped with two machines, the production unit has a cumulative capacity of 95,000t.
The firm is also set to close its packaging plant in New Albany, Indiana, US, by August 2016.
This New Albany plant was contracted to produce paper and metal cans for Pillsbury’s dough products and deliver them by conveyor to the adjacent Pillsbury facility.
The closure is expected to result in job losses for 76 workers, reports Associated Press.

"It comes straight from our paper mills, meaning we can assure consistency in quality and security of supply."
