US-based healthcare solution provider Omnicell has unveiled SureMed blister card, which can help patients to stick to prescribed medication regimens.
Claimed to be an improved adherence blister packaging solution, it will enable the users to organise multiple medications in an easy-to-follow format, which can benefit the pharmacists in guiding the patients for proper management of their doses.
The recent launches are expected to replace Omnicell’s RxMap and MTS branded blister cards and work as an alternative for those in the future, the firm said.
More than one million patients have been found to use Omnicell’s adherence packaging products for managing their medications, both at homes and post-acute care settings.
Used as a part of comprehensive pharmacy care programme, the multimed blister packaging solutions have increased adherence rates for medicines from 61% to 97%.
Hometown Pharmacy community pharmacist and owner Shawn Nairn said: "SureMed takes the notion of the classic pill box and simplifies the adherence process by having the pharmacist presort the medications, and also keeps each patient on track by clearly identifying which meds to take at the appropriate time of day."
