Auto-ID solutions provider SATO has purchased the general labelling business of New Zealand-based Jenkins Labels, which is into primary label production.
According to SATO, the business is into primary, shrink sleeve and wraparound labels.
With a substantial labelling and traceability business in Auckland and offices in Christchurch and Dunedin, SATO New Zealand (SNZ) serves many of New Zealand’s companies.
The company has been in operation in the market for more than 40 years.
Jenkins’ primary label business will serve to complement the existing capability of SNZ in the areas of operational labelling, courier labelling, laboratory labelling, printers, barcode scanning and traceability solutions.
SNZ managing director Kerry Langley said: "Jenkins has been a frontrunner in the labeling business in New Zealand for many years.

The acquisition will enable SATO to leverage its global network and open new opportunities for its customers.
Jenkins Freshpak Systems, the sister company of Jenkins Labels, will continue to operate independently and deliver solutions to New Zealand and Australia’s horticulture market by providing printing and traceability solutions.
SATO president and CEO Kaz Matsuyama said: "We are constantly striving to reinforce our network of solution providers to bring customised labelling solutions to customers."
The parties have not disclosed the transaction value.
