Eco-friendly packaging specialist Footprint is building a $15.4m manufacturing facility in Chester County, in the US state of South Carolina.
Expected to create 115 new jobs over the next five years, hiring will start in the third quarter of 2015, and continue through 2016 as new manufacturing lines are installed at the proposed facility.
The facility will produce and supply sustainable packaging materials for the company’s east coast and Canadian customers.
Footprint CEO Troy Swope said: "We are very excited about our South Carolina operation and the unique geographic, and technical advantage it will provide.
"When looking at the available workforce and our next-generation of sustainable materials and manufacturing technologies, South Carolina became the clear choice for our new state-of-the-art facility."
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley said: "The news that Footprint, LLC has made the decision to do business in South Carolina is a tremendous reason to celebrate across the state.
"The $15.4 million investment and the 115 new jobs they are creating in Chester County will make a real difference in the local community, and we look forward to watching them grow there for many years to come."
Currently, Footprint operates facilities in the US, Mexico and China. The company’s products are supplied to consumer goods, food, beverage, produce and horticulture, as well as product manufacturing businesses.
