British beverage can maker Rexam has been selected by Danish brewer Carlsberg to design a new cut-out tab for its beer range.
It will feature the hop leaf, a key element of the original Carlsberg logo designed by Danish artist Thorvald Bindesbøll in 1904.
Carlsberg will implement the new tab in conjunction with its standard can design in Norway across its beer range, with plans to launch in other markets.
Produced at Rexam’s Recklinghausen and Mont plants, the tabs will be available on all 33cl and 50cl cans.
Carlsberg senior innovation manager Giorgio Grimaldi said: "The hop leaf is a symbol of the quality and purity of the ingredients that go into making the best beer in the world, and Rexam offered us an innovative and unique way to incorporate it into our can designs, providing us with a bespoke product with great stand out on shelf."
Rexam has also developed an original 0.5l winter limited edition can for Efes Rus’ Velkopopovicky Kozel dark beer brand, which will be available across Russia.
