Custom manufacturer of cast embossed films Bloomer Plastics has acquired high-barrier coextruded blown films specialist Optimum Plastics for an undisclosed amount.

The move is in line with the company’s fundamental strategic initiatives and is core to the company’s growth plans. The acquisition will allow Bloomer Plastics to almost double its revenue and employee base.

Bloomer Plastics president and CEO Kevin Keneally said: "We’re proud to welcome Optimum into the Bloomer Plastics family.

"Bob Clemons and his team have assembled the finest set of multi-layer, high-barrier film assets in the standalone film market.

"Their leadership position in custom-engineered, nine-layer nylon coextrusions is unmatched.

"We’re proud to welcome Optimum into the Bloomer Plastics family."

"We look forward to continuing their investment in state-of-the-art technologies for our mutual valued customers."

Headquartered in Delaware, Ohio, US, Optimum Plastics has an advanced manufacturing facility, which houses an R&D centre, as well as an in-house lab and testing centre.

By using three and nine-layer technology, Optimum Plastics develops multi-layer blown film and bag products to improve product protection.

Optimum Plastics president and CEO Robert Clemons said: "We’re pleased to join forces with the Bloomer Plastics team.

"After 20 years of successful business operations, we are convinced that a merger with Bloomer will carry new opportunities for our employees, customers and partners.

"The team at Bloomer holds the right resources and talents to bring our business to the next level of performance."
