Krones

German packaging and bottling machine manufacturer Krones has restructured its subsidiary Kosme, which manufactures machines and technologies for the lower output range.

As part of the restructuring, operations for production packing and palletising kit have been halted at Kosme, which will focus on its core competencies in the fields of filling and labelling technologies.

The new organisation will solely relate to Kosme’s facility in Roverbella, Italy.

The company has modified Kosme Italy’s product portfolio and also worked on changing capacities to the right size, in a move to bolster the plant’s financial position in a sustainable way.

Kosme Italy will however continue to work on the production of complete lines, in addition to the fillers and labellers that are considered to be the company’s core business.

These lines, when required, are supplemented by products from qualified partner companies/suppliers, who meet the requirements for optimum quality given by Krones and its subsidiary Kosme.

Established in 1951, Krones currently employs 12,285 people. Around 90% of the machines manufactured by the company are sold abroad.

The company generated around €2.816bn in consolidated sales during the year 2013.

Krones primarily provides lines for breweries, the soft-drinks sector and producers of still or sparkling wines and spirits, as well as the food and luxury-goods industries, and the chemical, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.
