Global healthcare packaging company TekniPlex Healthcare has added a new multilayer blown film manufacturing line in a cleanroom environment at its facility in Puurs, Belgium.
The new production line has been installed in response to the growing demand for higher-order barrier solutions in the healthcare industry.
It will further help TekniPlex to expand its existing cleanroom film and bag production capacity.
The new cleanroom-housed blown film line is expected to begin operations in the second quarter (Q2) of this year, with full-scale commercial production to follow soon after.
The addition of the multilayer line complements the existing monolayer lines within the ISO Class 7 cleanrooms at the Puurs site, which are dedicated to the production of cleanroom bags.
This expansion further aligns with the shift among healthcare market players towards pharma-grade resins produced under good manufacturing practice cleanroom conditions, as opposed to food-grade resin-based bags.
