Carbios, a provider of biological technologies for plastics and textiles, has partnered with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services provider De Smet Engineers & Contractors (DSEC) to construct a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) biorecycling plant.
The facility, located in Longlaville, France, is set to be commissioned in 2025.
As part of the agreement, DSEC will be responsible for the project’s management and detailed engineering, including procurement assistance and management of Carbios’ partners.
The collaboration is designed to ensure the plant’s construction adheres to the projected timeline and budget while maintaining quality, safety, health, and environmental standards.
More than 70 DSEC experts are working in tandem with Carbios teams to meet the project’s timeline and budget.
The plant, claimed to be the first-of-its-kind in the world, aims to tackle plastic pollution by providing an industrial-scale solution for the enzymatic depolymerisation of PET waste, contributing significantly to the circular economy for plastics and textiles.
