The global packaging industry noticed a 2.4% rise in IT hiring activity in April 2021 over the previous month, led by Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India’s 13.14% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The packaging industry’s overall hiring activity declined 4.09% when compared with March 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 3.14% share of the global packaging industry’s hiring activity in April 2021, up 0.18% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of April 2021 were 5.08% lower compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 6.32% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 51.64% emerged as the top IT occupation in the packaging hiring activity in April 2021, an 8.61% an increase over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in second with a share of 15.68% in April 2021, down 20.55% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 13.22% share in April 2021, decline of 15.04% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 7.14% share in April 2021 and drop of 9.85% over March 2021.
Top five packaging companies by recruitment activity in April 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average an increase of 21.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global packaging industry during April 2021 over March 2021.
Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India posted 337 IT jobs in April 2021 and registered a rise of 69.35% over the previous month, followed by Ball with 169 jobs and a 28.69% decline. TTK Prestige with 103 IT jobs and British American Tobacco with 77 jobs, recorded a 32.05% an increase and an 113.89% growth, respectively, while PepsiCo recorded a 1.37% drop with 72 job postings during April 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in packaging industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global packaging IT hiring activity in April 2021 with a 52.42% share, which marked a 0.96% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 29.56%, registering a 10.61% month-on-month decline.Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 13.46% share and an 18.97% rise over March 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 3.35% and a month-on-month growth of 14.67%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.21%, registering a 40.91% an increase over the previous month.
