The global packaging industry noticed a 0.8% rise in IT hiring activity in February 2021 over the previous month, led by Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India’s 8.85% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The packaging industry’s overall hiring activity increased 2.87% when compared with January 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 2.57% share of the global packaging industry’s hiring activity in February 2021, up 0.22% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of February 2021 were 1.42% higher compared with the previous month.
The increase was a result of 2.23% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 34.87% emerged as the top IT occupation in the packaging hiring activity in February 2021, an 18.21% decline over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in second with a share of 22.8% in February 2021, up 0.8% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with an 18.44% share in February 2021, increase of 18.75% over the previous month, and Computer Support Specialists with an 8.61% share in February 2021 and drop of 26.42% over January 2021.
Top five packaging companies by recruitment activity in February 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 34.6% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global packaging industry during February 2021 over January 2021.
Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India posted 146 IT jobs in February 2021 and registered a drop of 70.39% over the previous month, followed by Ball with 125 jobs and a 6.84% rise. Unibel with 120 IT jobs and TTK Prestige with 67 jobs, recorded a 10.09% increase and a 3250% growth, respectively, while Fujitsu General recorded a 15.49% drop with 60 job postings during February 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in packaging industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global packaging IT hiring activity in February 2021 with a 49% share, which marked a 10.22% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 34.75%, registering a 5.13% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 13.4% share and an 11.24% decline over January 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 1.76% and a month-on-month drop of 39.58%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.09%, registering a 12.5% increase over the previous month.
