Production Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity
Production Occupations, with a share of 20%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the packaging industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 13% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 13% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 16% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent social responsibility roles include Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with an 8% share in Q2 2024, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in packaging industry accounted for 38% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Pactiv Evergreen, Smurfit WestRock, Ball, Berry Global Group, and Pregis. Together they accounted for a combined share of 38% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the packaging industry.
Pactiv Evergreen posted 541 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Smurfit WestRock 384 jobs, Ball 343 jobs, Berry Global Group 305 jobs, and Pregis 258 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 76.55% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the packaging industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 76.55% followed by the UK (3.28%) and Canada (3.12%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points higher than the 72.02% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
