Ahlstrom-Munksjö has launched ParaFree wax alternative papers, a range of fibre-based packaging papers for the fast food and food packaging industries.
The ParaFree range provides an alternative to petroleum-based ingredients. The paraffin wax free solution is resistant to several oils and condiments and repels water.
With the wax eliminated, the basis weight of the end-use product is lowered. Therefore, the overall material use is also reduced, positively affecting the supply chain in an environmental sense.
According to the fibre-based packaging solutions provider, the altered material has been developed with a focus on recyclability and compostability.
Ahlstrom-Munksjö North America specialty solutions sales and marketing vice-president Robyn Buss said: “Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s ParaFree wax alternative papers provide significant performance and sustainability advantages.
“ParaFree papers provide specially formulated solutions to our customers that make the end product easy on the environment and hard-working in their applications, enabling them to maintain high-level product performance while complying with emerging food safety regulations.”
The Finnish company claimed that offering the newly developed solution showcased its commitment to developing eco-friendly packaging options.
Ahlstrom-Munksjö is offering ParaFree papers with bleached or its own range trulyNatural fibre.
As well as being printable on both sides, the packaging offers a brightness and opacity that strengthens the visibility of the brand’s image and message.
