Sustainable speciality materials company Ahlstrom has announced that its non-heat sealable tea filter range has received a certification to ensure its home-compostability.
This certification for home compostability according to OK compost HOME from TÜV Austria, is claimed to further mark the company’s efforts to become one of the market leaders in sustainable and plastic-free solutions.
Ahlstrom said this certification provides assurance to customers that its tea filter paper range RegTea Green and RegTea TrulyNatural will break down in at-home composting conditions, and does not leave behind any toxic residue or microplastics.
This range can help customers, including converters or brand owners themselves, to achieve their own sustainability targets.
Ahlstrom Beverage and Casing vice-president Philippe Sevoz said: “This certification demonstrates our commitment to sustainability by leveraging our best-in-class innovation capabilities and capacity to improve the sustainability credentials of our products.
“Our business is committed to becoming the market benchmark with the recognised end-of-life certification and to offer customers a complete portfolio of tea and coffee solutions, heat-sealable or non-heat-sealable, certified as either industrially or home-compostable.
